on the previous shout the lifeboat crew noticed
that other Sailing boats were also in the Harbour,
one of which looked like it may need assistance.
The university sailing clubs Rescue, had sustained
a steering failure just before the previous shout
and so had had to return to Harbour! The Coastguard
and Lifeboat agreed that a check should be made
of the other vessels. The lifeboat approached one
small sailing boat that appeared to be having trouble
with the changing weather. Two of the people on
board had also been in the water, and had become
very cold. After the offer of a tow, they happily
accepted, and a tow was made fast and the sailing
boat was towed into the Harbour and the occupants
safely landed. The boat was then recovered, in a

| The lifeboat was launched to reports
that a small speed boat was having difficulty just
off the harbour entrance. The lifeboat went to the
reported area and after not being able to visually
identify a casualty, began asking boat owners around
the area, if they had been or reported difficultys!
It was established that none had, but some had seen
a vessel matching the description of the casualty
being towed into the harbour. The mobile coastguard
team checked out the harbour and confirmed that
the boat had indeed returned. The lifeboat satisfied
with the safety of the boat returned to base. |

club carried out a rescue exercise just off Aberystwyth.
The aim of the exercise to learn more about how
to safely rescue Divers, and understand the equipment
they use. The exercise was very good and both the

how each other operate and the best ways to help
each other if a real emergency ever occurred. |
